Volunteer Opportunities

There are a multitude of volunteer opportunities for people with diverse talents and attributes.

Energetic people, 16 and older, are needed to provide concession and merchandise services at local sports, business and entertainment events.  The Servant Center is partnering with Centerplate, one of the leading providers of food, catering and merchandise services for sports, conventions and entertainment.  A portion of all proceeds will benefit The Servant Center.

Green Thumbs are needed to help beautify the grounds by planting and harvesting vegetables, picking vegetables at local farms, making flower beds, pruning bushes, etc. This job is ideal for individuals or groups.

Upbeat personalities are needed at the Servant Center Office to answer phones, transfer calls, take messages and assist with copying, faxing, collating and filing documents.

Drivers are needed at the Servant Center to take residents of Servant House to the Winston-Salem VA Clinic, the Salisbury VA Medical Center and the Durham VA Medical Center or to other local medical appointments.

Please contact Fred Darby at (336) 275-8585 for the above mentioned volunteer opportunities.

Several opportunities exist through the Food Pantry/Grocery Assistance Program:

Interviewers are needed to gather household and income information from clients. Interviews are done from 10 am to noon once a week.

Stockers are needed to sort food drive donations, put food on shelves, unload food shipments, and pack bags for distribution. Stockers are needed from 9 am to 1 pm Monday through Friday.

Home Delivery Drivers are needed the third Tuesday of each month to help deliver food to the Grocery Assistance Program clients.

Food Drive Organizers are needed to organize food drives throughout the year to keep the food pantry stocked. This is a great opportunity for schools, scout groups and other large groups.

Please contact Mark Courtright at (336) 275-8585 for volunteer opportunities in the Food Pantry.
