Comfort Care
The
Servant Center, in partnership with the W.G.
Hefner Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Hospice and
Palliative Care of Greensboro provides end-of-life care
for up to 5 homeless, disabled veterans who have life
limiting illnesses. This partnership allows veterans
to live fully, with comfort and dignity, to the end
of their life by providing physical, emotional and spiritual
support to them and their families. The support team
includes doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains
and volunteers.
Admission Criteria:
TO
BE CONSIDERED FOR ACCEPTANCE, CLIENT MUST BE:
- A veteran.
- TB
test negative.
- Terminally
ill.
- Homeless
by Federal HUD guidelines.

Must
be given less than 6 months to live.
- Clean
from alcohol and drugs for at least 30 days.
- Referred by the Health Care for Homeless Veterans
or a local government or a human services agency. Note: Self
Referrals are not accepted.
CANNOT
BE:
- A registered sex offender.
